Mastering was completed June 21st. What you\u2019re listening to is the undubbed original masters, plus the bonus track\u2026 the overdubbed version of &#8220;Love&#8217;s Made A Fool Of You&#8221; (With Handclaps).<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Master Tapes \u2013 A Brief History:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The tracks were all recorded between January 25th and September 10th, 1958. Of all the tracks, only three of them actually utilized the Crickets. The sessions were divided between Norman Petty&#8217;s NorVaJak Studios, in Clovis, New Mexico, Bell Sound Studios, 237 W. 54th Street, New York and\u00a0 The Pythian Temple, 80th Street, New York. Buddy was clearly preferring to use session musicians such as Glen &#8220;Bo&#8221; Clark, George Atwood,\u00a0 the Dick Jacobs Orchestra consisting of Al Chernet, George Barnes, David &#8220;Panama&#8221; Francis and Philip Kraus,\u00a0 Sanford Bloch, Sam Taylor,\u00a0 Ernest Hayes, The Helen Way Singers and, of course, King Curtis and Tommy Allsup. Most people prefer to think the &#8220;split&#8221; between Buddy and the Crickets began sometime in October of that year, yet Mr. Holly began recording without them as early as January 25 of that year. During 1958, in fact, Holly played more sessions with members of the Crickets while backing up the likes of Carolyn Hester, than together on his own recordings.\u00a0 These recordings have been referred to (accurately) as &#8220;the stray&#8221; sessions, in that they didn&#8217;t appear on any LP until after Mr. Holly&#8217;s passing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What We\u2019ve Done:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Using AI de-mixing technology, we\u2019ve reduced the tape hiss considerably. Not only have we separated and cleaned each individual track (vocals, drums, bass, etc.), we have also stemmed the original studio effects (Sound-On-Sound, Echo, Reverb) and remixed those into the stereo spectrum for a very rich, natural sounding end-product. Of all the tracks, only three of them actually utilized the Crickets. The sessions were divided between Norman Petty\u2019s NorVaJak Studios, in Clovis, New Mexico, Bell Sound Studios, 237 W. 54th Street, New York and The Pythian Temple, 80th Street, New York. Buddy was clearly preferring to use session musicians such as Glen \u201cBo\u201d Clark, George Atwood, the Dick Jacobs Orchestra consisting of Al Chernet, George Barnes, David \u201cPanama\u201d Francis and Philip Kraus, Sanford Bloch, Sam Taylor, Ernest Hayes, The Helen Way Singers and, of course, King Curtis and Tommy Allsup. Most people prefer to think the \u201csplit\u201d between Buddy and the Crickets began sometime in October of that year, yet Mr. Holly began recording without them as early as January 25 of that year. During 1958, in fact, Holly played more sessions with members of the Crickets while backing up the likes of Carolyn Hester, than together on his own recordings.
