What We’ve Done:
In the mid 70’s, MCA Records destroyed many multi-track masters from ABC – Dunhill records, thus purposely losing masters from artists like Three Dog Night, The Grass Roots and The Mamas & The Papas. Now… why… would they do such an incredibly stupid thing? Because the powers-that-be at the time deemed those multi-track recordings and mono masters were obsolete and too expensive to store. As for their later albums, which many overlook… rumor has it that, in 2008, a fire at a Universal Studios warehouse destroyed those that remained. What’s left are what are known as “mixdown masters”; the final released product, on analog reels. Those could not be remixed… until now. Through deep de-mixing, artifact cleanup and noise reduction, via traditional methods and AI technology working in tandem, then carefully re-equalized, these tracks have been taken from their original mixes to what you are now hearing. I hope you enjoy them. Downloads are below.
